Do this: Open a free chatbot and ask what it knows about your business, the way a stranger would. Every wrong fact it hands you is a wrong fact it is handing your customers, for free, all day.
PASTE THIS
You are a customer in [town] looking for [type of service]. You have never heard of [business name]. Answer in four lines: what the business does, who it is for, its opening hours or phone number, and one reason to pick it. Then list what you are unsure about instead of guessing, and mark anything you think may be out of date.
You'll get: A short list of gaps and errors in the version of your business that AI repeats. Fix the worst one on your Google Business Profile or homepage this week, then run the same prompt again to confirm it stuck.
The five-line AI rule for staff
Paste it into the team chat and pin it. Five lines that get read beat forty pages that get filed.
Somewhere in the business, someone is pasting a customer list into a free chatbot, and there is no rule about it. That is not a training failure. It is a policy nobody wrote, which means the vendor's privacy terms became the policy by default. Five lines on the wall beats a year of awareness emails nobody opened.
OpenAI published a case study on Anima, a clinic service that says voice agents cut call waits by 75%. It is a vendor number, so read it as a ceiling.
The calls being answered are the ones a small firm already loses: after hours, during a rush, on a second line nobody staffs.
So what: this week, call your own business at 7pm and time how long it rings. If it rings out, an agent is cheaper than the receptionist you cannot hire.
Free transcription just reset the price of meeting notes
Nvidia released Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe, an open-weight model that handles up to 40 languages, tells up to eight speakers apart and takes recordings up to an hour long, TechCrunch reports. It reads recorded audio, not live calls. So what: before your next renewal, ask your transcription vendor for a lower rate, and do not sign a multi-year deal this quarter.
The writing assistant moved into the app you already own
Apple put an AI assistant inside Pages, Keynote and Numbers that can draft and restructure text in Pages and organise data in Numbers, The Verge reports. No new subscription. So what: before buying another writing or spreadsheet tool this month, open the document you have been avoiding and use the assistant in software you already pay for.
Capacity is being bought years before it exists
Nvidia and Oracle expanded Vera Rubin capacity to multi-gigawatt scale and put Nvidia's Vera CPU into Oracle's cloud. Commitments that size are signed years ahead of delivery. So what: when a vendor blames capacity for a price rise at renewal, ask what was already contracted and for when, and refuse an open-ended increase.
This week's question: a bot answers chats on our website. Do we have to tell customers it is not a person? Say it in the first line: this is an automated assistant, ask for a person at any time. One sentence costs nothing and removes the argument later, when a customer says they were misled or acted on advice that was wrong. Then make the exit real. Either a named person replies within a stated time, or the chat hands over a phone number that gets answered. A bot with no exit is the version that ends up in a complaint.
Is there a written rule for what your staff may paste into a chatbot?
A. Yes, and it is pinned where staff see it
B. A verbal rule only
C. No rule at all
D. Nobody here uses AI yet

TechCrunch keeps a running list of the AI startups and projects that did not make it. What is that list called?
Answer tomorrow β and no, we are not printing it here.
YESTERDAY'S ANSWER
Researchers found the same request costs 1.5 to 5 times more tokens in some languages than in the cheapest one. What do they call that surcharge?
The tokenizer tax. Some languages need far more tokens for a model to process, so the same job costs more and eats more of the context window (Rest of World).
About 5 minutes to read. One thing you can use today every issue.
